Composition
- Each film-coated tablet contains 23.2 mg of iron (II) ions as 200 mg iron (II) gluconate (Ferrosi gluconas).
- Tablet core: ascorbic acid, talc, potato starch, stearic acid, propylene glycol; coating (AquaPolish P red): hypromellose, hydroxypropylcellulose, macrogol, triglycerides of medium chain saturated fatty acids, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), Allura red AC, lak (E 129), iron oxide black (E 172), iron oxide red (E 172)
Indications for use:
- iron deficiency conditions related to blood loss
- periods of increased demand for iron (during pregnancy, breastfeeding and adolescent growth spurt)
- conditions related to malabsorption or iron-deficient diet.
Description
Ascofer film-coated tablets contain 200 mg of iron (II) gluconate, corresponding to 23.2 mg of iron (II) ions. The tablets are recommended to patients with iron deficiency. Iron deficiency can affect red blood cell production and tissue respiration by reducing the amount of oxygen-carrying and oxygen-consuming proteins (haemoglobin and myoglobin).
